John Denver is a popular artist and musician who has touched many people by his lyrics. Many of these have roots in Colorado. Born Henry John Deutschendorf Jr. in Roswell New Mexico, he was in love with Colorado and then relocated to Aspen. Denver's anthems for his adopted state have attracted many people to Colorado. G. Brown of the Colorado Music Hall of Fame says that John Denver is unlike any other artist who embodies Colorado. Denver was the first Hall of Fame ever inductee. He has become the personification of the state to many people across the globe. In my travels I've had the pleasure of meeting individuals from New Zealand or the other side. If you inform that you're from Colorado, the first words they say are Oh John Denver. Brown clarified. Take Me Home Country Roads written by Bill Danoff and Denver after his brief time as a folk musician which was Denver's first Top 10 solo hit. Danoff wrote the song in conjunction with Johnny Cash in mind but the moment Denver heard an early version it was clear that it was destined to be a hit single.
